Following a tip-off about a plot to murder a person, the Munneerpallam police intensified patrolling in the areas under their jurisdiction in the small hours of Tuesday (July 28, 2026). When they spotted six persons moving around in a suspicious manner, the police picked them up for interrogation.

The police recovered three machetes, two bikes and a car, and arrested all the six persons.

The arrested were identified as Manikandan alias Vaththu Mani, 27, Kalimuthu, 23, Sudalai Krishnan alias Murugan, 40, Esakki Muthu alias Yesuraja, 29, Maharajan, 18, and Ponnurangam alias Ponraj, 19, all from Munneerpallam and surrounding villages.
