Sivaganga court sentences six of family to life imprisonment for murder
A Sivaganga district court has sentenced six family members to life imprisonment for the murder of a farmer following a property dispute. Each individual was also ordered to pay a fine of ₹7,500.

Karuppiah, 60, a farmer from Poosanikulam village near Thittakudi in Sivaganga district, had an ongoing property dispute with Alagu, 63, from the same village. On October 7, 2018, another dispute broke out between Karuppiah and Alagu’s family.
In a fit of rage, Alagu, his wife Rathinam, 62, their sons Kannan, 42, and Pandimurugan, 38, along with relatives Mahalakshmi, 43, from Vanjanipatti and Latha, 40, from Nelmanipatti, jointly attacked Karuppiah.
Karuppiah succumbed to his injuries during the assault. The Nerkuppai police registered a case and arrested all six individuals involved in the murder. The trial was conducted before the Sivaganga District Principal Sessions Court.
