SIT to probe fisherman death case

The investigation into the suspicious death of 30-year-old fisherman, M. Chanti, who was found allegedly murdered in the beach area under One Town police station limits on September 7, has been handed over to a Special Investigation Team (SIT)
Gajuwaka Traffic Inspector Hussain has been appointed as the investigating officer. Commissioner of Police, Shankabratha Bagchi has also directed him to seek the assistance of personnel from the One Town police station in the investigation.
Chanti’s body was found in the vicinity of the Fishing Harbour approximately on September 7. As part of the preliminary investigation, the police collected evidence from the scene and questioned many people.
According to information gathered from Chanti’s family members and acquaintances, had reportedly expressed fears in the past that someone might kill him.
