SIT moves Supreme Court to question officer in Gade Sai Krishna custodial death case

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged custodial death of Gade Sai Krishna has filed a petition in the Supreme Court, seeking permission to question the accused in full and asking the apex court to relax the conditions set by the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court had directed the investigating officers to question the accused Circle Inspector, S.S.V.V. Nagaraju of the Krishnalanka police station, and to videograph the process.
Challenging the High Court’s order, the SIT approached the Supreme Court on Thursday (July 9, 2026).
It was alleged that the Krishnalanka CI and his staff had illegally detained and tortured Sai Krishna, and killed him in custody in May. They later reportedly cremated the body, the victim’s family members alleged.
