Siruthuli, in collaboration with Rotary Club of Coimbatore Central, recently launched an initiative to rejuvenate the Kurichi Anicut at a total cost of ₹50 lakh.

The first two anicuts of the Noyyal River Basin — Pudukaadu Anicut and Kil. Chithirai Chavadi (Kuniyamuthur) Anicut — were successfully restored last year. In continuation of these efforts, the Kurichi Anicut will be rejuvenated in a couple of months by strengthening the water-retention capacity of the anicut, improving groundwater recharge, and supporting effective movement and storage of water.

This intervention is expected to benefit 509 acres of ayacut area, improve groundwater recharge, boost agricultural productivity in the nearby areas, and increase cultivation area. The existing sewage in the feeder channel leading to the Kurichi Tank will be completely removed, ensuring that only clean water flows into the tank following the project intervention.
