SIR leaves out 5.13 lakh voter names in Belagavi
The Special Intensive Revision of voter lists in Belagavi district has resulted in the removal of over 5.13 lakh names, citing reasons such as death, absence, or displacement. Officials have urged citizens to verify their status and file objections by September 23.

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter list has left 5.13 lakh names of voters out of the electoral rolls in Belagavi district.
This is a reduction of 12.49% from the earlier rolls.
As per the draft list published on Monday, there are 35,93,561 voters in the district.
The earlier rolls contained 41.06 lakh voters. Of these, 18,05,685 are males, 17,87,715 females and 161 gender minorities.
District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan told reporters in Belagavi on Monday that the SIR has removed 5,13,439 names of voters.
“They include 1,34,093 deceased, 26,459 absent and 2,83,249 permanently displaced. All those who have been left out will be given notices. Those whose names are not in the list have until September 23 to file objections,” he said.
