SIR: Deletions in Bengaluru disproportionately high, 12 seats cross 10-times winning margin mark
Data analysis reveals that 12 Assembly constituencies in Bengaluru have experienced voter deletions significantly exceeding the winning margins of the 2023 elections. A large majority of these deletions are categorized as 'shifted' or 'absent,' raising concerns about the integrity of the electoral roll.

At least 12 of Bengaluru’s 28 Assembly constituencies have seen the number of voters deleted from the draft electoral roll exceed 10 times the winning margin in the 2023 Assembly election. The pattern of deletions points to a large number of names – more than 90% in some constituencies – being marked as either shifted or absent.
For instance, in Bommanahalli Assembly constituency, which has recorded the highest deletions during the draft stage (54%), the winning margin in 2023 was 24,215 votes, while more than 2.65 lakh names have been deleted under the Absent, Shifted, Duplicate, Dead and Others (ASDDO) category — nearly 11 times the winning margin.
In Dasarahalli, where the winning margin was 9,194 votes, the number of deletions is more than 26 times the margin. The constituency has seen more than 2.45 lakh deletions, the second-highest at 52% of the electorate.
