SIR: Deadline for enumeration phase in Karnataka extended again; draft rolls to be published on August 24
The Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer has extended the deadline for the Special Intensive Revision enumeration phase to August 17. This extension follows pressure from civil society groups regarding concerns over the accuracy of the Absent, Shifted, Duplicate, Dead and Others (ASDDO) voter list.

The enumeration phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), which was scheduled to end on Saturday, has been extended till August 17, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Karnataka, announced on Friday. This is the second extension granted for the exercise.
The draft electoral rolls, scheduled to be published on August 17, will now be released on August 24. The period for filing claims and objections will run from August 24 to September 23, while the final electoral rolls will be published on October 27.
The extension comes days after civil society groups urged the Election Commission to extend the exercise following the publication of the Absent, Shifted, Duplicate, Dead and Others (ASDDO) list, arguing that voters needed adequate time to check whether they had been wrongly classified and approach their Booth Level Officers (BLOs) for corrections.
