Ms. Janaki’s granddaughter Vydyula performed the last rites in the presence of her close relatives, friends and a large number of admirers.
Earlier, Ms Janaki’s body was brought in a vehicle to the farmhouse in HD Kote taluk of Mysuru district from Maharaja’s College grounds, where it was kept for public viewing.
Extensive arrangements had been made at the farmhouse, with barricades erected from the approach road to the place of cremation.
Adequate police personnel and deployed to maintain tight security arrangements.
