Singareni supplying a lion’s share of its coal to thermal stations in TG
Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) is prioritizing coal supplies to thermal power stations within Telangana to meet rising energy demands caused by erratic monsoon conditions. Despite requests from other states, the company has allocated the majority of its output to local power utilities.

The erratic monsoon due to the impact of El Nino conditions is resulting in increased energy demand across the country, making the thermal power companies, including the ones of TG-Genco, scout for additional coal supplies to meet the rise in demand.
The TG-Genco has recently addressed letter to a few coal companies in the public sector, including Coal India Ltd, seeking an additional 5 million tonnes of coal supplies to meet the increasing energy demand and to overcome the efficiency problems with low-grade coal. The State public sector coal company Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has, however, decided to cater to the needs of the local demand first.
