Singapore Red Cross steps up heat and haze support with air purifiers, support packs

The Singapore Red Cross is distributing air purifiers and support packs to vulnerable seniors as haze and heat conditions worsen. The initiative follows a recent spike in the 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index, which reached unhealthy levels for the first time since 2023.
Why it matters
Climate-related health risks are increasingly impacting public health and requiring proactive social support interventions for at-risk populations.
The first tranche of expanded support is expected to reach 700 people across Singapore.
