Singapore Grand Prix 2026 exempted from Beverage Container Return Scheme: NEA

The Singapore Grand Prix 2026 Circuit Park has been granted an exemption from the national Beverage Container Return Scheme (BCRS) deposit requirement. The NEA cited the event's timing and scale as reasons for the temporary waiver.
Why it matters
This reflects the logistical challenges of implementing new environmental regulations during large-scale international events.
The Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix 2026's (SGP) Circuit Park has been exempted from the 10-cent deposit requirement of the Beverage Container Return Scheme (BCRS).
In an announcement posted on SGP's website, race promoter Singapore GP said that polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottled beverages sold in the Circuit Park do not include a 10-cent BCRS deposit.
It also urged racegoers to recycle their empty PET bottles in designated bins located around the Circuit Park.
Responding to AsiaOne's queries, the National Environment Agency (NEA) confirmed the exemption, explaining that this is due to F1 Singapore taking place shortly after the full implementation of the BCRS .
The scheme went into full swing on Oct 1, following a six-month transition period that began on April 1.
