Sindh records country's biggest rainfall deficit

Sindh and Karachi have experienced record-breaking rainfall deficits during the recent monsoon season, with Karachi seeing a 92% shortfall. The Pakistan Meteorological Department attributes these dry conditions to the El Niño climate pattern.

PHOTO: AFP KARACHI: Sindh remained Pakistan's driest province during this year's monsoon season, receiving 50.8% less rainfall than normal. Karachi recorded an exceptional 92% deficit in rainfall from July to September, according to data released by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The PMD data showed that Pakistan received a total of 120.5 millimetres of rainfall between July 1 and September 30, which was 19.3% below the normal level for the period.
