Simple changes to fishing gear and handling can greatly improve survival of released coho salmon
New research from the University of British Columbia suggests that recreational anglers can significantly increase the survival rate of released coho salmon by avoiding the use of landing nets. The study found that fin and scale damage from mesh nets are primary predictors of post-release mortality.
