Silver Ferns shooter Georgia Heffernan has signed her maiden contract in Australia’s Super Netball competition, joining the Sunshine Coast Lightning.
The 19-test goal attack exits the New Zealand domestic scene after nine years at the Southern Steel, whom she helped lead to the ANZ Premiership grand final this year.
Heffernan joins Silver Ferns captain Karin Burger at the Lightning, Burger re-signing for 2027 after joining this year. Also at the Lightning is legendary New Zealand international Laura Langman, who has a part-time mentoring and consultancy role.
Heffernan will join former Northern Mystics goal shoot Donnell Wallam and 2025 Super Netball grand finalist Olivia Wilkinson in the circle.
The 26-year-old couldn’t wait to start her Super Netball journey, saying she is ready for the challenge.
“I’m really excited to be joining the Lightning for the next two seasons,” she said.
