The President of SIGNIS Africa has described the SIGNIS World Congress that is scheduled to take place in Kigali, Rwanda, as “very significant to Africa,” saying it is a sign of the continent's growing role in the life of the Church.
In his Thursday, July 16, interview with ACI Africa, Fr. Walter Chikwendu Ihejirika , who also serves as the Chairperson of the African Organizing Committee for the gathering, reflected on the significance of the Congress that runs from August 3-8 at Sainte Famille Hotel.
“SIGNIS World Congress is very significant to Africa. It is the first time it is being held in Africa. It is a sign that the church in Africa is coming of age. This means that the seeds of faith sowed by the Western Missionaries have borne abundant fruits,” Fr. Walter said.
