‘Sigma’: Jason Sanjay’s debut direction gets a new release date

The heist thriller 'Sigma', starring Sundeep Kishan and directed by Jason Sanjay, has been rescheduled for an October 2, 2026 release. The film's debut was delayed due to scheduling conflicts with other major Tamil cinema releases.
Why it matters
The rescheduling highlights the competitive nature of the Indian film industry and the impact of major star-driven releases on the broader theatrical calendar.
Sigma , the directorial debut of Jason Sanjay, has a new release date. The Sundeep Kishan-starrer, which was earlier scheduled to hit theatres on July 31, was postponed following the rescheduling of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s Jana Nayagan to July 23 .
Sanjay, Vijay's son, makes his directorial debut with Sigma . Lyca Productions, the banner behind Sigma, took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the development. “Mark the date for the heist,” wrote Lyca. Sigma will now hit the screens on October 02, 2026.
Produced by Subaskaran, the film is touted to be a high-stakes heist thriller. Sanjay has previously revealed that the film combines elements of action, comedy, treasure hunt, and heist.
