SHRC orders immediate repair of damaged street lights in Kochi
The Kerala State Human Rights Commission has ordered the immediate repair of damaged street lights across Kochi following reports of malfunctions after heavy rains. Officials must submit an action-taken report within three weeks.

State Human Rights Commission Chairperson Alexander Thomas has directed the authorities to immediately repair the damaged street lights in the city.
The street lights had stopped functioning after the rain intensified. The Commission ordered that an official of the rank of Assistant Executive Engineer, Department of Local Self-Government, be deputed to inspect the damaged street lights after a site visit.
The report is to be submitted to the secretary of the Kochi Corporation. The secretary must accord top priority to the report and address the complaints without delay. An action-taken report has to be submitted to the Commission within three weeks, according to a communication.
