Shortage in milk and vegetable production in Telangana, health concerns due to food adulteration raised in Assembly

Health concerns due to adulterated food and pesticide use in cultivation, were discussed on the fourth day of Telangana Assembly on Thursday. Shortage in production of milk and vegetables in the State was also a topic of discussion during the Question Hour.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Payal Shankar said that only 8% of the milk needed in the State is produced here and the remaining gets imported from other States. Alleging that adulterated milk is being produced in TG, he urged the government to set up a new system to address this issue.
Mr. Shankar said that benefits of the National Livestock Mission have to be provided to people in Telangana.
Palakurthi MLA Yashaswini Reddy said that people are concerned about health hazards due to use of pesticides in cultivation. Farmers are also troubled by monkey menace, she added.
