A textile shop near the Salem Town police station was reportedly burgled in the intervening night between Saturday and Sunday (October 4). According to the shop manager, a sum of ₹3.86 lakh was stolen.
According to the police, the shop, located in a bustling locality near the Old Bus Stand, was closed on Saturday night after business hours. When the shop manager, S. Sivanantha Murugan (44) from Marimuthu Street in Ammapet, opened the shop on Sunday morning, he found the lockers broken and ₹3.86 lakh in cash missing.
A police team visited the spot, and forensic experts collected fingerprints from the crime scene.
