Kuvempu University has decided to stop offering post-graduate courses at its constituent colleges in the city — Sahyadri Arts College and Sahyadri Science College — a move that has drawn the wrath of student organisations and people’s representatives.
Sahyadri Arts College had been offering post-graduate courses in English, Economics and Political Science, while the neighbouring Sahyadri Science College offered MSc programmes in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Physics and a few other subjects. Students unable to travel to the university’s main campus at Shankarghatta, about 20 km from the town, had enrolled in these courses at the city colleges.
