Shivamogga Deputy Commissioner holds meeting on forming Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas

The Shivamogga district administration is launching 'Bharat Jodo Yuvaka Sanghas' to promote social harmony, sports, and civic engagement among youth aged 16 to 35. The government will provide annual funding to these local units to support infrastructure, digital literacy, and community-focused activities.
Why it matters
This initiative represents a significant state-led effort to institutionalize youth participation in community development and social welfare programs at the grassroots level.
The Shivamogga district administration on Tuesday (July 21) held a meeting on forming Bharat Jodo Yuvaka Sangha in the district to promote sports, scientific temper, culture, social harmony and constitutional values.
Chairing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalikatti told officers that the State government had planned to form 10,000 Bharat Jodo Yuvaka Sanghas in the State. People aged 16 to 35 can become members of such sanghas, each comprising anywhere between 100 and 250 members.
Mr. Kavalikatti said that there would be one sangha in each gram panchayat, and in urban localities, there would be one unit for a population of 4,000 to 10,000. The government would provide 10 lakh annually to each sangha in three instalments. The programme would be implemented through the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, he said.
