Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) Director David Zini told the Security Cabinet on Monday that it must consider reinstating administrative detentions over extremist settler nationalist terrorism in the West Bank."If the measures currently being used, along with the special task force they are seeking to establish, prove ineffective, there will be no choice but to recommend administrative detention," Zini said.Defense Minister Israel Katz banned administrative detention of Jews in January 2025.Additionally, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir called for the establishment of a joint dedicated task force to fight nationalist crime in the West Bank during the Security Cabinet meeting."The military's tools regarding this issue are limited," Zamir said.The discussion comes amid heightened security concerns in the West Bank, where Israeli security forces continue to contend with multiple forms of violence and criminal activity.
