The first death anniversary of Sharanabasavappa Appa, the eighth head of the Sharanabasaveshwar Samasthan, was observed in Kalaburagi city on Wednesday (September 2), with speakers recalling his contribution to education and social development in the region.
A programme was held at the Anubhava Mantap in the Sharnbasaveshwar Shrine complex. It was attended by political leaders, religious heads, educationists and people from all walks of life.
Prabha Mallikarjun, Davangere MP, who released two books and a set of video presentations on Appa’s life and Dasoha philosophy, said his work had significantly expanded access to education, particularly for women.
