President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Muhammed Bello Bala Shagari on his election as Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Organisation for the 2026–2029 term, describing the development as a significant achievement for Nigeria. Tinubu said Shagari’s emergence reflected recognition of his contributions to youth development and international engagement, as well as the growing role of young Nigerians in global affairs. In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President said the Federal Government would continue to create opportunities for Nigerian youths to assume leadership responsibilities at home and abroad. Shagari, a former Vice Chairperson of NAMYO for Africa and former President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, is expected to use his new position to advance youth cooperation, peace, sustainable development and the aspirations of countries of the Global South.
