SHA invites public comments on new healthcare contracts

The Social Health Authority (SHA) has invited healthcare providers, facilities and other stakeholders to submit comments on proposed contracts for the 2026-2029 healthcare provider contracting cycle.
The authority said the new contracting period will run from October 1, 2026, to June 30, 2029, and will cover four funds under the Social Health Insurance framework.
They are the Primary Health Care Fund (PHCF), Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), Emergency, Chronic and Critical Illness Fund (ECCIF) and Public Officers Medical Scheme Fund (POMSF).
SHA said the move is part of preparations to contract healthcare providers and facilities that meet inspection, licensing and certification requirements.
In a notice issued by CEO Mercy Mwangangi, the authority said it was seeking comments, views and representations from healthcare providers, their representative associations and other interested stakeholders before finalising the proposed contracts.
