Why it matters
Efficient land administration is critical for property rights and preventing the illegal encroachment of public and government-owned land.
The Revenue department has received 1,162 calls on the toll-free number, facilitating landowners to register their grievances pertaining to lands that are included in the prohibited list under Section 22A of the Registration Act.
Of these, 547 calls pertained to grievances related to agricultural lands and 433 to non-agricultural lands, after filtering out repeat calls. Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the department disposed of a majority of lands whose registrations were stopped citing inclusion under Section 22A within 24 hours.
