Seven Cabinet berths for Kalyana Karnataka; Kalaburagi has three Ministers

The recent Karnataka Cabinet expansion has allocated seven berths to the Kalyana Karnataka region, with Kalaburagi district receiving three. Despite the regional representation, some senior leaders from Raichur and Yadgir were excluded, leading to a slight decrease in the region's total cabinet share.
Why it matters
Regional representation in state cabinets is a key factor in local political support and resource allocation in India.
The expansion of Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s Cabinet on Monday has given the Kalyana Karnataka region seven berths in the Council of Ministers, with the induction of Jewargi MLA Ajay Singh taking Kalaburagi district’s representation to three.
Besides Dr. Singh, Kalaburagi district has two other Ministers- Priyank Kharge from Chittapur and Sharan Prakash Patil from Sedam. Eshwar B. Khandre from Bhalki in Bidar district has retained his Cabinet berth.
Koppal has got two Cabinet berths, including Basavaraj Rayaraddi from Yelburga, who entered the Cabinet in the latest expansion, and Shivaraj Tangadagi from Kanakagiri, who retained his position.
While B. Nagendra from Ballari Rural, who had resigned from the previous Siddaramaiah Cabinet following allegations of misappropriation of funds in the Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation, has also found a place in Mr. Shivakumar’s Cabinet.
