Why it matters
The crossover between professional wrestling and professional sports highlights the entertainment industry's strategy of blending celebrity culture with scripted sports drama.
Seth Rollins crashed the main event segment of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event to attack Roman Reigns, who was in the ring with New York Knicks captain Jalen Brunson.
Brunson helped to delay Rollins, who was about to deliver a chair-assisted Curb Stomp to Reigns after Tyrese Haliburton helped set up the attack.
Reigns appeared alongside Brunson to close the show at Madison Square Garden, praising him for leading the franchise to its first NBA championship in 53 years.
He then presented the point guard with a custom blue-and-orange World Heavyweight Championship belt.
