Inter, Juventus, Roma, and Sassuolo have advanced to the semi-finals of the Serie A Women's Cup following the conclusion of the group stage. The final round of matches saw decisive victories for Inter and Napoli.
Why it matters
This update tracks the progression of a major professional women's football tournament in Italy.
Inter secured the top spot in Group A with a 3-1 victory against Lazio . Elsewhere, Juventus and Roma also sealed their places in the semi-finals with crucial wins in the final round of fixtures in the group stage.
The three teams join Sassuolo , who had already booked their semi-final berth prior to match-day three.
Inter fell behind following Margherita Monnecchi's incredible effort from distance. Spotting the Cecilía Rán Rúnarsdóttir off her line, Monnecchi produced the required pace and height to keep her looping effort just out of the reach of the backpedalling goalkeeper.
Unfortunately for Lazio, Carlotta Masu's handball infringement allowed Karólína Lea Vilhjálmsdóttir to equalise from the penalty spot.
