MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said Saturday that most senator-judges in the majority bloc are open to shifting the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte from morning sessions to hearings in the afternoon extending into the early evening.
Lacson said the Senate majority had discussed the proposed schedule, with hearings set from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. from Monday to Wednesday.
The Senate’s regular plenary session may be held during the morning, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., he said.

“This was discussed in our chat group; for the majority of us—or at least within that specific chat group—that was the prevailing sentiment or opinion, that we should hold the session in the morning so that the impeachment trial wouldn’t be cut short,” he said in an interview on dwIZ radio.
