Semicon design firm Spintronics, CEERI ink pact for GaN tech

Spintronics AI Semiconductors and CSIR-CEERI have signed an MoU to collaborate on Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology. The partnership aims to establish indigenous fabrication facilities to strengthen India's semiconductor ecosystem.
Why it matters
Developing domestic semiconductor capabilities is a strategic priority for India's technological self-reliance and economic growth.
Hyderabad-based Spintronics AI Semiconductors and CSIR-Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-CEERI) have signed an MoU to collaborate in the area of Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology.
A strategic technology and design transfer partnership focused on the technology has been signed, as part of the MoU, said Spintronics, announcing it is the first company in the country to enter into such a partnership with CSIR-CEERI.
Spintronics and CSIR-CEERI will assess feasibility of establishing an indigenous GaN technology development and fabrication facility in India. It will explore technology and infrastructure requirements, fabrication capabilities and potential pathways to strengthen domestic GaN semiconductor capabilities.
The collaboration will focus on transferring advanced GaN technology and design knowhow from research and development into an industry-led semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, the company said in a release.
