Security cover reduced for DMK president M.K. Stalin
The TVK-led government has downgraded the security cover for former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin from Z-category equivalent to standard escort security. The change follows his transition from the office of Chief Minister to a former official.

The TVK-led government has reduced the security cover provided to former Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin. Earlier, 58 police personnel were deployed for his protection. This has now been downgraded to 33 personnel. Core Cell security, which is an elite, specialised unit of the Security Branch CID, is tasked with providing round-the-clock protection to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
“The ‘Core Cell category’ security that was being provided to the former Chief Minister at a level equivalent to Z-category security has been withdrawn with effect from Saturday. As he is now a former Chief Minister, he will henceforth be provided only escort security,” said an official.
