Security beefed up outside Parliament Street police station ahead of CJP leaders visit for fresh Jantar Mantar protest date

Security has been tightened around the Parliament Street police station in Delhi as Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders attempt to secure a new date for a protest at Jantar Mantar. The police previously denied permission for the demonstration, citing procedural non-compliance and public order concerns.
Why it matters
The standoff highlights ongoing tensions regarding the right to protest in the capital and the strict enforcement of administrative protocols for public demonstrations.
Security was tightened outside the Parliament Street police station on Monday (October 12, 2026) as Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders prepared to approach the Delhi Police to seek a fresh date for their proposed protest at Jantar Mantar , days after the police denied permission for their October 10 demonstration.
CJP co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka said he, along with Saurav Das, Ratna Singh and other party leaders, would visit the police station to seek a date for holding a peaceful protest at the designated protest site.
“Delhi Police can give us a date for Jantar Mantar in 24 hours, or we will give another protest call ourselves,” Mr. Ranka said.
A public announcement was also made outside the police station, warning people about security restrictions and prohibitory orders and directing them to maintain peace and avoid unauthorised gatherings.
