A section of Bengaluru's Church Street collapsed under the weight of a garbage truck on Monday. Officials are investigating the cause, with initial suspicions pointing toward an overloaded vehicle.
Why it matters
The incident raises questions about the structural integrity and maintenance of urban infrastructure projects like TenderSURE.
Bengaluru’s Church Street could not withstand the weight of a garbage collection truck on Monday (October 12) morning, when a section of the TenderSURE road caved in as the vehicle was moving towards St. Marks Road, leaving it stuck for about four hours. The collapse was reported at around 9 a.m.
The incident raised concerns over the condition of the road, which is part of the city’s TenderSURE network designed to provide durable streets, with the video of the incident making rounds on social media.
