A coordinated search operation involving a specialised scuba diving team is underway to locate a 23-year-old youth who went missing after a country boat capsized in the Chaliyar river near Mavoor around 12.30 a.m. on Wednesday. The police have identified the missing youth as Basil, a resident of Mavoor.
According to police sources, the incident occurred near Poolakkode when a three-member group was engaged in fishing. The small country-made boat lost balance and overturned at a dangerous stretch of the river. While two others managed to swim to safety on the riverbank, Basil was found missing.
