Search for missing Brazilian woman in Queenstown enters sixth day

Search and rescue teams are using drones, dogs, a helicopter and ground teams in the continuing search for a Brazilian woman missing in Queenstown.

Queenstown Lakes search and rescue co-ordinator Senior Sergeant John Fookes said on Saturday there had been no significant developments in the search for 47-year-old target="_self" rel="" title="https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/erika-rodrigues-coelho-missing-in-queenstown-as-underwater-drone-used-in-search/EBCY3ULUABF3THMXQ23WQE3C24/">Erika Rodrigues Coelho .

“It’s day six now in the search for Erika,” he said.

“She’s been missing, we believe, since the Friday prior, so it’s probably close to 10 days she’s been away – eight to 10 days.”

Several dozen searchers were involved in Saturday’s operation, alongside drones, search dogs, a helicopter and ground teams.

“We’re hoping to get some sort of indication of where she may have been or obviously find Erika,” Fookes said.

Rodrigues Coelho is a Brazilian national living in Queenstown.
