Seahawks jump ahead early, falter late in preseason loss to Titans

The Seattle Seahawks lost their second preseason game 19-16 to the Tennessee Titans after failing to score for three consecutive quarters. Despite a strong start from backup quarterback Drew Lock, the team suffered significant injuries to two players.
Why it matters
Preseason games are critical for evaluating roster depth and managing player health ahead of the regular NFL season.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Seattle’s starters such as quarterback Sam Darnold, receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, cornerback Devon Witherspoon and basically everyone else assured a significant role this year, went through warmups in full uniform Sunday night.
Then, just as they did last week for the preseason opener against Dallas, they took off their helmets and pads and returned to the sideline to watch the young players and backups battle it out against the Tennessee Titans in the second of three preseason games Seattle will play this year.
What they witnessed was a strange game in which the Seahawks scored the first three times they had the ball with Drew Lock as their quarterback, then went scoreless the final three quarters as the Titans rallied to score 10 points in the fourth quarter and pull out a 19-16 victory. Seattle fell to 0-2 on the preseason.
