Scuffle in Hassan prison, two including staff member suffer injuries

An undertrial and a jail staff were injured in a scuffle at Hassan Prison in Hassan on Friday, following which the jail staff filed a complaint against 11 undertrials on charges of assaulting the staff, among other charges.
The scuffle broke out around 5 p.m on Friday, when two undertrials Mohan Kumar and Rangaswamy got in to an argument over priority in the queue to use the telephone. The jail staff Parashurama H. and Viresh Sangamad intervened to ensure peace. However, several associates of Mohan Kumar joined the fight and began assaulting Rangaswamy. They also assaulted Viresh Sangamad and pushed him to the ground.
