Scrutiny of Telangana Hate Speech Bill-2026 commences

The Selection Committee constituted to examine the Telangana Hate Speech and Hate Crimes (Prevention) Bill, 2026 held its first meeting at the Telangana Legislative Assembly on Saturday, marking the beginning of a detailed review of the proposed legislation.
Addressing the meeting, chaired by Minister Ponnam Prabhakar Goud in the Speaker’s Chamber, Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar said the Legislative Assembly had entrusted the committee with the responsibility of conducting a comprehensive examination of the Bill and submitting a report with appropriate recommendations.
He expressed confidence that the committee would discharge its mandate impartially through detailed scrutiny and constructive deliberations before presenting its findings to the House.
Mr. Prasad Kumar said the committee had been assigned the important task of reviewing the legislation in depth and making recommendations that would assist the Assembly in considering the Bill.
