Scott Edwards has stepped down as Netherlands captain, bringing to an end a four-year leadership stint. The development was confirmed through a video shared on social media by The Royal Dutch Cricket Association (KNCB). All-rounder Bas de Leede will captain the side for the remaining ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 fixtures against Oman and the UAE. Addressing his teammates, the 29-year-old Edwards said the decision had been in the making after discussions with head coach Ryan Cook and others around the setup. "Apologies for sort of springing this one on you guys. I'm actually stepping down from the captaincy from here," Edwards said. "I think it's sort of something Cookie [Ryan Cook] and I have been speaking about and I've sort of been speaking to a few different people about it, and this is sort of the time that feels right for me, I think.
