South Coast Railway (SCoR) General Manager Sandeep Mathur on Tuesday presented Safety Awards to four employees for exemplary vigilance and timely intervention in averting potential accidents.
This marks the inaugural presentation of Safety Awards by the General Manager since the formation of the South Coast Railway zone.
M. Ramesh Babu, station superintendent at Chirala in the Vijayawada Division, was honoured for his alertness on June 2, 2026. While exchanging signals with an Up Goods train, he noticed broken iron strips securing iron coil rolls on two wagons. His prompt communication with the loco pilot and control office ensured the train was halted at Vetapalem, preventing potential obstruction and derailment risks on adjacent tracks.
