SCoR GM reviews safety, infrastructure works during zone-wide inspection

The review focused on operational efficiency, monsoon preparedness, and passenger amenities ahead of the upcoming Godavari Pushkarams.

South Coast Railway (SCoR) Zone General Manager Sandeep Mathur has completed an inspection of all four divisions of the zone, covering nearly 3,500 km.
The inspection covered key sections, including Ichchapuram–Visakhapatnam (255 km), Vijayawada–Gudur–Renigunta (450 km), Tirupati–Guntakal (350 km), Visakhapatnam–Rajahmundry (210 km), Nandyal–Guntur (300 km), and Guntur–Madhira (100 km).
Safety remained the primary focus throughout the inspection. Mr. Mathur reviewed track maintenance, points and crossings, signalling and telecommunication systems, level-crossing preparedness, tunnels, and monsoon readiness.
He also assessed the progress of capacity augmentation projects, including third-line works, yard remodelling, Rail Over Rail (ROR) installations, and 23 projects under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme covering 35 major stations. The inspection included ongoing station redevelopment works at Tirupati, passenger amenity improvements at Kadapa, the proposed Nambur line alignment, and proposals for a high-speed rail corridor in the Amaravati region.
