SCCL dispatching at least 28 rakes of coal every day even in rainy spell: CMD

Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) is maintaining coal dispatches to thermal power stations despite monsoon-related challenges. The CMD has instructed officials to prioritize production targets and ensure safety measures in mining areas.
Why it matters
Ensuring coal supply is critical for maintaining energy security and meeting the power demands of the agricultural and industrial sectors.
With the increase in demand for energy from the farm and other sectors, the management of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has asked its area general managers to ensure uninterrupted coal supply to thermal power stations having coal linkage with Singareni by dispatching at least 28 to 32 rakes of quality coal every day, despite rains.
Chairman and Managing Director of the company Buddhaprakash Jyoti held a virtual meeting from Hyderabad with the general managers on Friday and took stock of the coal production, dispatch, overburden removal and coal quality aspects. Though continuous rains have some impact on production in the opencast mines, the area managers must ensure adequate precautionary measures to achieve the prescribed production targets, he said.
