Save The Nation submits memorandum to Joint Parliamentary Committee

Save The Nation (Nattai Kappom), a Madurai-based confederation of Civil Society Organisations, has submitted a memorandum to the Joint Parliamentary Committee examining the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026.

In a press release issued by Save the Nation, its convener C.J. Rajan and co-convener A. Santhanam said they recognise the legitimate objectives of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010, including transparency, accountability, proper utilisation of foreign contribution and prevention of misuse of funds.

At the same time certain provisions of the proposed Amendment Bill have consequences that extend considerably beyond regulation of foreign contribution. In particular, provisions relating to cessation of registration, vesting and disposal of assets, management of charitable property, liability of key functionaries, investigation and delegated powers require careful reconsideration, they said.
