Satish Jarkiholi asks officers to speed up drought relief
Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi asked officers to speed up drought relief works and utilise water in various dams judiciously.
At the Karnataka Development Programme review meeting held at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi on Wednesday, the Minister asked officials to ensure that all drought-relief measures, including drinking water supply, fodder banks, surveys to assess drought-related losses, release of compensation and preparations for the coming months, were taken up on priority. “All such works should be speeded up,” he said.
“Officers should not wait for farmers to approach them. They should proactively resolve issues concerning crop insurance, irrigation, fodder storage for livestock and related matters. Officers must respond swiftly to issues such as crop damage caused by rainfall deficiency and provide compensation to eligible farmers in accordance with regulations,” he said.
