Pune’s 19-year-old Sarthak Chavan shrugged off jet lag and a last-row start to win the premier Super Sport 301-400cc Open race in the second round of the MRF Indian National Racing Challenge 2W at the Madras International Circuit (MIC) here on Saturday.

Sarthak, who arrived in Chennai early on Saturday after an overnight journey from Spain and missed practice and qualifying, took advantage of leader Rahil Pillarisetty’s retirement on the penultimate lap. Chennai teenager Rakshith Dave finished second, while Bengaluru’s Chiranth Vishwanath completed the Petronas TVS Racing podium sweep.

Sixteen-year-old Kabilesh, son of former National champion Rajini Krishnan, won the Super Stock 301-400cc Open. Chennai’s former National women’s champion Ann Jennifer claimed the Super Stock 165cc Intermediate title after starting last.
