Sandfall hints that work has begun on Expedition 33 Switch 2 port

Sandfall Interactive is exploring a port of their RPG 'Expedition 33' for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The studio notes that significant technical hurdles remain due to the game's reliance on high-end Unreal Engine 5 features.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was one of the standout RPGs of 2025, and now Sandfall Interactive has confirmed that it is exploring a Switch 2 version. However, the team says the port will require significant technical adjustments and may still be some way off.
Speaking with Automaton, studio CEO Guillaume Broche said the team is “interested in looking for a way” to bring Expedition 33 to Nintendo’s latest console but added that it is too early to announce anything concrete. Co‑founder Tom Guillermin expanded on the challenge, explaining that the Switch 2’s hardware presents limitations compared to PlayStation and Xbox: “It’s a big technical challenge because we tried to do something beautiful with the game, but of course, the Switch 2 is not as powerful as the PlayStation or the Xbox Series X.”
