Sanction granted to prosecute two more accused government employees, HC told
The Tamil Nadu government informed the Madras High Court that it has granted sanction to prosecute two additional government employees involved in a ₹200 crore property tax scam in Madurai. The court has ordered the Special Investigation Team to complete the probe and file a final report.

The State on Friday told the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court that sanction was granted to prosecute two more government employees accused in the property tax scam in Madurai Corporation and was pending consideration with respect to another accused government employee.
Earlier, the State informed the court that eight accused in the property tax scam in Madurai Corporation were government employees. Sanction had already been granted to prosecute five of the accused.
A Division Bench of Justices C.V. Karthikeyan and R. Sakthivel directed the investigation to be completed and the final report be filed before the jurisdictional court. The court was hearing a public interest litigation petition filed in 2025 by AIADMK Councillor of Madurai Corporation T. Ravi (Ward No. 83).
