Samsung Wallet now unlocks some GM cars

Samsung Wallet now supports digital car keys for select 2026 and 2027 General Motors vehicles, allowing users to lock, unlock, and start their cars via smartphone. The feature requires specific Samsung Galaxy devices equipped with ultra-wideband and Bluetooth Low Energy technology.
Why it matters
This integration represents a growing trend in automotive technology where smartphones replace traditional key fobs, enhancing convenience and security for vehicle owners.
Users of some Samsung devices in the US and Canada can now lock, unlock, and start select GM vehicles using a digital key stored in their Samsung Wallet.
Support will start on select 2026 and 2027 Cadillac EVs, including the 2025-2027 Lyriq, 2026-2027 Optic, and 2027 Vistiq. GM says more models will be supported by the end of 2026.
GM announced earlier this month that digital keys would also be coming to a few GMC and Chevy trucks in December. It noted that the feature is not a Samsung Wallet exclusive, coming to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet for compatible iPhones, Apple Watches, and Pixel devices. It’s unclear, however, if those devices are also supported as of today. GM says customers will see a notification in the “What’s New” section of their vehicle’s mobile app when digital key support becomes available.
